Origin Story – Founder

Gregg Gehret grew up in Steelton, PA and attended Steelton-Highspire Sr. High School. Gregg’s father owned a photography studio on Front Street in Steelton, Gehret’s Photography. Gregg was always good working with his hands. He took wood shop and metal shop in high school, which at the time, was better than vo-tech school.

About the time that Gregg was graduating from high school, his dad hired a man to install siding on the back of his photography studio building. The guy he hired had a helper who quit shortly after the project started and Gregg was asked to help him. Gregg completed the job so well that the installer offered him a permanent position.

About two years later, Gregg decided to go into business for himself as a sub-contractor and he also took on side jobs. He used his dad’s pick-up truck to hall equipment and materials to the job site, then rode his motorcycle to and from the job each day. That is when some of Gregg’s friends started calling him the ‘easy sider’, after the popular 1969 movie, Easy Rider.

In 1974, Easy Siders Home Improvement Co, Inc. was born. Over the years the company expanded its product and service offering beyond siding but stayed true to its core belief of being rooted in selling quality products, serving customers with integrity and meeting their needs.

About the New Owner

In 2024, Easy Siders was acquired by Kevin Myers.  Kevin was raised in Lancaster County, PA and graduated from Cocalico High School.  Like Gregg, Kevin was good working with his hands and excelled in wood shop and metal shop in high school, but following his wood shop teacher’s advice, chose to pursue an engineering degree at the University of Pittsburgh.  To earn gas money, Kevin worked construction jobs throughout high school and college.

Kevin graduated from college in 1998 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.  Early in his career he transitioned from engineering to technical sales and then into sales management. He grew his sales and management experience working for a Fortune 100 company where he managed sales teams across the United States and Canada.  Kevin acquired his MBA in 2017 with the goal of owning his own company.

Kevin’s desire to work with his hands was never lost, as he began investing and rehabbing investment properties in 2002.  In 2005, he started his property holding company, which created an outlet for continuing his love for bringing new life to houses, by fixing them up and renting them out.

In 2024, the timing was right for Kevin to make a career change and his dream of owning his own business came to fruition when he acquired Easy Siders Home Improvements LLC. Kevin & Gregg’s Mission and Values were and still are the same.  It is about serving the customer with integrity and adding value by meeting their needs. Easy Siders continues to lead with its 50-year reputation of integrity and its core values of being people-focused and quality-driven.
