Our Story: From “Easy Rider” to Easy Siders
Gregg Gehret grew up in Steelton, PA and attended Steelton-Highspire Sr. High School. Gregg’s father owned a photography studio on Front Street in Steelton, Gehret’s Photography. Gregg was always good working with his hands. He took wood shop and metal shop in high school, which at the time, was better than vo-tech school.
About the time that Gregg was graduating from high school, his dad hired a man to install siding on the back of his photography studio building. The guy he hired had a helper who quit shortly after the project started and Gregg was asked to help him. Gregg completed the job so well that the installer offered him a permanent position.
About two years later, Gregg decided to go into business for himself as a sub-contractor and he also took on side jobs. He used his dad’s pick-up truck to hall equipment and materials to the job site, then rode his motorcycle to and from the job each day. That is when some of Gregg’s friends started calling him the ‘easy sider’, after the popular 1969 movie, Easy Rider.
In 1974, Easy Siders Home Improvement Co, Inc. was born. Over the years the company expanded its product and service offering beyond siding but stayed true to its core belief of being rooted in selling quality products, serving customers with integrity and meeting their needs.
About Today’s Owner: Kevin Myers
Fast forward to 2024, when Kevin Myers became the new owner of Easy Siders. Like Gregg, Kevin grew up local – raised in Lancaster County and a graduate of Cocalico High School. He loved working with his hands, excelled in shop class, and followed his teacher’s advice to study engineering at the University of Pittsburgh.
After earning a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1998, Kevin built a successful career in sales and sales management with a Fortune 100 company, managing teams across the U.S. and Canada. Along the way, he also earned his MBA. But despite his corporate career, Kevin never gave up his passion for building. Since 2002, he has been rehabbing and renting properties – turning old houses into beautiful homes again.
In 2024, Kevin made his dream a reality by acquiring Easy Siders Home Improvements. His vision? To continue the company’s 50-year reputation for people-focused, quality-driven home improvement while carrying forward Gregg’s mission of integrity, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction.
